ECONOMIC EQUITY
We cannot build a stronger, healthier nation on a foundation where millions are struggling just to survive. Economic equity in our nation is the baseline for progress.
When people can afford housing, healthcare, and a stable life, they can work, innovate, raise families and contribute fully to their communities. When they can’t, everything else we claim to care about, from education to public health to economic growth, begins to break down.
If we are serious about moving this country forward, we have to start by making sure everyone has a fair shot at stability and opportunity.
What Elizabeth Will Do
Make the Wealthy Pay Their Share
Close tax loopholes for billionaires and corporations
Ensure no billionaire pays a lower tax rate than a nurse or teacher
Oppose tax cuts for the wealthy while working families struggle
Why it matters: Amazon paid $0 in federal taxes in 2018 while Elizabeth's patients were rationing insulin. That's obscene.
Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
and Child Tax Credit
Increase EITC to put more money in working families' pockets
Restore the expanded Child Tax Credit that cut child poverty by 40%
Make both credits fully refundable
Why it matters: These aren't handouts—they're investments in families. And they work.
Support Workers' Rights to Organize
Protect and expand union rights by passing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act
Oppose "Right to Work" laws that weaken unions
Raise the federal minimum wage to a living wage
Ensure fair scheduling and paid sick leave
Why it matters: Elizabeth is a proud union supporter. Workers built the middle class, and unions will rebuild it.
Stop Harmful Tariffs That Raise Costs
Oppose tariffs that increase prices on everyday goods
Negotiate fair trade deals that protect American workers without gouging consumers
Why it matters: When tariffs raise the cost of groceries, diapers, and medications, working families pay the price.
Expand SNAP and Food Assistance Programs
Increase SNAP benefits to reflect actual food costs
Simplify application processes
Expand eligibility for working families
Why it matters: No child in America should go to bed hungry. Full stop.
